Ring Joint Gasket
Top
API ring joint gaskets come in two basic types, an oval cross section and octagonal cross section.
These basic shapes are used in pressures up to 10,000 psi. The dimensions are standardized and
require specially grooved flanges. The octagonal cross section has a higher sealing efficiency than
the oval and would be the preferred gasket. However, only the oval cross section can be used in the
old type round bottom groove. The newer flat bottom groove design will accept either the oval or the
octagonal cross section. The sealing surfaces on the ring joint grooves must be smoothly finished
to 63 microinches and be free of objectionable ridges, tool or chatter marks. They seal by an initial
line contact or a wedging action as the compressive forces are applied. The hardness of the ring
should always be less than the hardness of the flanges. Dimensions for API ring joint gaskets and
grooves are covered in ANSI B 16.20 and API 6A. |

Spiral Wound Gasket

High quality Spiral Wound Gaskets have proved to be the most reliable static seal for use in
difficult, critical and arduous conditions. This applies particularly in the Refinery, Petrochemical,
Chemical, Steam Raising and Process Industries, where they have many advantages over the older types of gaskets.
Flexiteck Spiral Wound Gaskets are manufactured in Round, Oblong, Square, Oval, Diamond and Pear shapes.

- can often be used on pitted or misaligned flanges where other gaskets have failed.

Pure Graphite Gasket
Top
Graphite intercalation compounds are produced from the natural graphite flakes.
Which are compressed into foils without binder or filler. Graphite sheets are manufactured in
various forms, namely unreinforced, impregnated or reinforced. Absence of binders means no
ageing or embrittlement. Long-term stability of compressibility and recovery over a wide
temperature range. No cold or warm flow up to maximum permissible gasket stress. High creep
strength under compressive stress. Properties highly anisotropic, particularly in respect
of electrical and thermal conductivity. Resistance to radiation and thermal shock.

Solid Metal Gasket & Serrated Metal Gasket
Serrated metal gasket is made of cold rolled metal plate,
but it has concentric grooves and effective sealing
area is minimized so as to increase sealing effect.
Flat metal gasket is the most simple and economical
type of all metal gaskets which is made of cold rolled
metal plate.
Both of these gaskets are extensively used on pipe flanges.
